Phil Christman Dark Lake Interview
Thoughts on "Lake of Darkness", folds, utopia, horror and being an atheist-Christian-novelist
The estimable Phil Christman, to whose ‘The Tourist’ substack you should subscribe, as I do, has published an interview with me about Lake of Darkness. Ignore the hyperbole of the opening introduction, and enjoy the spoilerissimus main text. Or enjoy as much of it as you can before hitting the paywall. If that is what happens, then you should seriously consider becoming a paying subscriber: Christman is one of the best and most engaged essayists working today, which I don’t just say because he likes my novel. I would say it if he hated my novel, as he may well do with the next one.
That next one? I’m presently writing a book called Frankenstein Rex, a Shelleysequel of sorts and fundamentally a novel about politics. I don’t have a publication schedule yet, but it should be coming out from Gollancz in 2025.
